Promoting Global Literacy Paul J. Norcross Visits Philippine Schoolchildren

The initial mission of 7 Degrees of Change, and #1 in the 7 Degrees of Change, is supporting “global literacy.” Over the past eight years we have had the privilege of providing nearly half a million books to children in the Philippines, Macau and Bhutan. The majority being used and discarded books from this community, books that were set for the dump, which have virtually made a massive difference in many thousands of people’s lives. Prior to joining forces with the Library Renewal Partnership (LRP), the leading literacy coalition in the Philippines pioneered a private-sector approach to literacy, supporting school, farm, hospital, village and even prison libraries to empower deserving communities and citizens, 7 Degrees partnered initially with Vicky SyCip Herrera and her PREP team of IB© students from the International School Manila, where we provided books for seven libraries, with the crown jewel being the Gail Norcross Trigueiro Memorial Library in Tagaytay, Philippines. LRP, in partnership with 7 Degrees, will launch its 200th partner library in the Kingdom of Bhutan with over 40,000 volumes of pre-loved world-class K-12 standard books.
